Withinly is an AI-powered emotional reflection tool for people who want to understand their relationship patterns - with themselves and with others. It sits between personality quizzes and therapy: more personal than the former, more accessible than the latter.
I owned the product from concept to launch - strategy, product architecture, and design - in close collaboration with a friend who developed the app. I built the marketing site and parts of the app myself. It was also one of the first bigger projects where AI-assisted development was a real part of the workflow.
What It Covers
Four psychological trait assessments feed into a layered report system and an AI chat companion. Reports range from individual self-understanding to conflict patterns and communication styles. A partner sync feature lets couples generate shared insights without exposing each other’s individual data.
The monetisation runs on a token system rather than subscriptions - suited to an audience that pays for depth on their own terms.
Stack
A two-person build. Next.js, Node.js, MongoDB, OpenAI, LangChain, Pinecone. Marketing site on Astro.
Next.js TypeScript Node.js MongoDB Pinecone LangChain OpenAI Astro TailwindWhere It Stands
Withinly launched in closed beta in January 2026 - real users, real conversations, and a full product carried from first concept to production by a team of two. Right now it’s resting while client work has the front seat. Not dead, not “launching soon” - I’d rather say that plainly than fake momentum.
What It’s Teaching Me
Owning a product end to end - strategy, design, build, launch - sharpens judgment in a way client work alone can’t. The constraints I now bring to every client MVP were earned here: scope small, ship before it feels ready, and let real users set the direction instead of assumptions.
